The NIK (Poland) as Chair of the EUROSAIGoverning Board, organised a 2-day seminar “Performance Audit of Social Programmes for Professional Integration of the Disabled: A Practical Approach to Evaluating Economy, Efficiency and Effectiveness”.
The seminar was developed in cooperation with the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht, and namely with its Warsaw antenna, the European Centre for Public Financial Management, which shall contribute with expert knowledge.
The inspiration to organise a seminar in that area came from the document Kraków Conclusions and Recommendations, adopted by the 7th EUROSAI Congress held in Kraków in June 2008, where Recommendation 4 concerning Theme III of the Congress (Audit of social programs for professional integration of the disabled) says that “In developing national approaches SAIs should take full advantage of the opportunity to benefit from sharing the knowledge and experience already gained by EUROSAI colleagues”.
The seminar took place on 13-14 January 2010 in Warsaw. It was organised for all members of EUROSAI and was a tailor-made activity for EUROSAI SAIs’ audit practitioners involved in auditing social programmes.
The purpose of the seminar was to provide participants with a ‘step by step’ approach that they could use in delivering performance studies and reporting findings. The seminar drew heavily on practical examples and techniques from the performance audit in the field of professional integration of the disabled, conducted by EUROSAI member SAIs.
