Jacek Jezierski President of the NIK, Chairman of the EUROSAI Governing Board took part in VI EUROSAI –OLACEFS Conference devoted to “Present and future challenges and defence and preservation of natural resources”. Representatives of 14 SAIs from OLACEFS (Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions) and 14 SAIs from EUROSAI took part in the event. Among the European participants was the Secretariat General of EUROSAI (Spain) and Secretariat General of INTOSAI (Austria). EUROSAI as a co-organiser of the conference was responsible for preparation and chairing one of the theme session devoted to cooperative environmental audit initiatives. Introductory presentation on importance of parallel environmental audits in globalised world was delivered by the Chairman of the EUROSAI Governing Board. The European experience in cooperative environmental auditing were presented by SAIs of The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine.

In accordance with the Memorandum of understanding for the development of environmental management cooperative audits for the Amazon Region signed at the conference by the member countries of the Amazon Basin, the representatives of the European SAIs attending the event signed the relevant attachment to the memorandum expressing their solidarity with the initiative.
